Arco Iris Announces New Principal

Dear Arco Iris Community,

The Board is excited to announce that Erin Miles will be joining us next year as the new principal of Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School.

Erin has experience teaching at multiple grade levels, in both lower primary and upper primary grades. She has demonstrated the ability to support individual teacher growth both in and out of the classroom. Erin also has experience with curriculum development and facilitating programs for teachers at the school level (PBIS, acting administrator, staff meetings) and at the district level (teacher professional development in Common Core, SIOP, ESL, reading, writing, and math). She has organized Parent Nights and Family Nights for the school community. Erin speaks Spanish. During the selection process, she spoke to her multi-cultural professional experiences, as well as, demonstrated knowledge of best practices in second language acquisition. The Board feels Erin understands the different layers of communication involved with the different stakeholders of a school such as ours. She is currently completing her administrator licensure. Erin has met the Arco Iris staff and some of the community and is excited to take on her new role.

The principal search working group, which included 2 Arco Iris school board members, 2 Arco Iris parents, 3 current staff members, and 1 board member emeritus, unanimously recommended Erin to the Board.

We believe Principal Miles will be an excellent addition to Arco Iris School and look forward to working with her. Principal Miles will be attending the Arco Iris Community Picnic on May 31st. Please join us in welcoming her to Arco Iris School.

Thank you,
