Friday Updates – November 7, 2014

Book Fair – A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who supported our Book Fair. An overwhelming show of support by our Arco Iris community helped us to not only meet but beat our Book Fair goals! As a community, we bought 1,174 books—the equivalent of 211,320 reading minutes. Way to go!

A special THANK YOU to the many volunteers who helped to make the Book Fair a huge success. Your help, time, and support is appreciated.

There is still an opportunity to shop for books you may have forgotten or purchase a last minute gift. You may also find that Spanish title that was out of stock during the Fair.

The online Book Fair will be open until November 11th.

Science and Engineering Fair 2015! We will again be hosting our annual Science and Engineering Fair this year. The big event is set for Thursday, February 19th. Info will be coming home with students today. We also have a website set up for all the details. See our website for more!

Big Tent – Check out our Big Tent site at http://www.bigtent.com/featured_groups, enter Arco Iris into the search and scroll down to find us. The PTO hopes that Big Tent will offer a one stop location to find what is going on past, present, and future. Big Tent offers blog forums, a calendar, and file sharing. We will use this site to post school topic discussions, PTO meeting minutes, and track school calendar items. Our group is closed to the public, but it has a home page (https://www.bigtent.com/groups/arcoirispto) of current events that you can view even if you don’t want to join. If you choose to join you will be able to access the interactive community options that Big Tent offers. When you create a profile you can search for and join the group ‘Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School PTO’. (There is also an iphone app available). See you on Big Tent!

December Community Event: The Nutcracker – Let’s go see the Nutcracker together. December 19th is our last day of school before winter break, the perfect day to kick up the holiday spirit with a family friendly dose of Nutcracker. The Nutcracker Tea is a shortened version performed by North West Dance Theatre after which cookies are handed out by the performers in costume. The performance is held at PCC sylvania campus onDecember 19th at 7pm. Tickets went on sale on November 1st and tend to sell out quickly, cost is 14$-30$. This is not a fundraiser and the school will not benefit from any purchases. We felt this would be a fun event for Arco families to enjoy together. There are performances other than the 19th but it might be fun if we can all target the same performance. Buy tickets at: http://nwdt.org/ after you buy your tickets let us know on Facebook or Big Tent so we know who to look for at the performance.

Mad Science – Sign ups for Mad Science are coming soon. Classes start December 3rd.
