We are wrapping up our first week! Our staff have had a great time welcoming back our students and getting to know our new families. We hope you and your children have felt welcome and are getting comfortable in the new routine.
Afternoon Pickup – Please see the attached photo for driving into the BCC parking lot in the afternoons. Please do NOT enter through the first driveway off of Menlo. Unlike morning curbside drop-off, it is important to keep the area in front of the buildings clear of cars in the afternoon. Please drive all the way down toward Fir Grove and park in the back of the lot. This is for everyone’s safety. Thank you for following this very important detail as we strive to be good, safe tenants.
If you arrive after 3:45 pm, please enter through the Buenas Tardes pickup doors. (See: BuenasTardes Drop-off Pick-up) Our front doors are locked at 3:45 pm. It is important for our student’s security that parents not open the front doors and let people in after 3:45 pm. This is an important safety issue, your cooperation is crucial.
School starts at 8:30 a.m.! We have had a large number of students arriving after 8:30 a.m. every day. Please be sure your child is at school and at their desk by 8:30 a.m. Not only are late arrivals disruptive for our office, the entire class, and the teacher, they negatively impact every students’ learning time. Thank you for your help.
Volunteers – As we begin to settle in, we are seeing when and where we might need a few extra hands to help. Volunteer opportunities will be coming up in the next few weeks. If you are interested in volunteering please register at www.parentbooker.com under Arco Iris. This is our new volunteer software that will allow us to organize and inform you our current volunteer needs. As the year progresses we will have more volunteer needs and there will be plenty of opportunity to help. If you can’t volunteer now but still want to be kept in the loop please sign up anyway. We are a small school community and rely on generous hearts like yours to lend a hand and help our days run smoothly.
Room Parents – We are still searching for Room Parents. Room parents generally help with organizing events and volunteers for the classroom teachers. If this is a job that you might be interested in please contact the PTO.
Jog-a-thon – Our annual jog-a-thon is fast approaching and we need a few volunteers to complete our committee. The event will happen October 3rd and we have much work to do before then. This is our second largest fundraising event and critical for our operations. If you are interested in joining the Jog-a-thon committee please contact the PTO. This is a very fun event for everyone!
Spirit Wear Apparel Sales are going on now! Students are encouraged to show their Jaguar pride on designated Arco Iris spirit wear days. On the Spirit Wear Order Form you will find t-shirts and sweatshirts (sweatshirts can be worn through the year as outerwear) and even some options for parents and older students! After school on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (September 10-12), the PTO will have a desk set up in the lobby of the school where you can submit forms and payment, try on samples and purchase a VERY limited supply of t-shirts.
