As summer vacation for students pulls to a close, our teachers have been busy this week getting the last important details together for the first day of school. With training, lesson planning, and classroom organization, they are a very busy and excited group! We will continue with these weekly updates throughout the school year, so please subscribe to the blog so you are sure to not miss important announcements.

- Drop-off and Pick-up procedures have changed! Please see our web page for details and maps.
- Hot lunch program continues with VOA. Please see our hot lunch page for details. We have changes to food and milk substitutions. The September menu is posted. If you want hot lunch the first week of school, please bring payment to the ice cream social on August 26th.
- Important documents are updated and on the web. This page includes our Family Handbook, Dress Code, and Buenas Tardes programs – all have changes this year. We have marked items with (NEW!) if there are changes from last year.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL AUGUST 26th! Please don’t forget about our supply drop-off night and ice cream social from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, August 26th. We still need a few volunteers, so if you have some time to give, please see our link here for the sign-up list.
KISS ‘EM COFFEE tradition continues on Tuesday morning (first day of school). Kiss your child good-bye and join other parents/guardians for coffee with friends.
VOLUNTEERING at Arco Iris during the school year is critical to our continued success. We require that ALL of our volunteers pass a criminal background check. Please see our Volunteering Opportunities page for details as well as the link to our online form. You will be given a volunteer badge by our office once results come in. Results can take 3-5 business days and the results are sent only to our office.
JOG-A-THON is fast approaching and still needs a leader. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and will need a team assembled with in the next two weeks to ensure that it runs smoothly. If you are interested in helping out please email the PTO.
PTO FUNDRAISING OFFICER needed! Thank you to those who have stepped forward and offered their time and leadership to the PTO this year. We are still in need of a fundraising officer. The fundraising officer works with established committees to ensure that the PTO reaches its fundraising goal, supports the school board, staff and PTO in outreach and communications regarding fundraising, and works with PTO treasurer to make sure the budget is supported. If you are interested please contact the PTO.
OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS is looking for an educator to join our team. This announcement is open to the public, not just parents of our students. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 29th. See our link here for details.
And finally – MAZAMA LODGE! Spaces are still available to enjoy a weekend up at Mt. Hood at this beautiful venue. Join us Friday, September 19th for a fabulous weekend. The historic Mazamas Lodge on Mt. Hood near the turnoff for Timberline Lodge will be all ours for the night and is the perfect setting for enjoying the best that the mountain has to offer in September. There are many hiking trails and opportunities for exploring the area, including huckleberry picking at the peak of its season on the mountain. The cost per person is $30, which includes lodging for the night, dinner Friday night, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. The lodge capacity is 70, but they allow tent camping on the grounds outside the lodge if we exceed capacity or by choice. We will have our sign-up at the Ice Cream Social and our Kiss ’em Coffee. Please have checks made out to Arco Iris and write “Mazamas” in the memo line.
