It has been a great start for the 2013/2014 academic year! With our new staff, new home, and a lot of new students, there has been a lot of fine tuning of many details. It’s the little things that make our days run smoothly. Thank you to our parent (and grandparent) volunteers that are able to help us out.
We have had some fantastic events so far this year. We moved, which was a giant undertaking of brute strength and hundreds of volunteer hours! Students reunited and met their teachers after summer break for an ice cream social at our new home. Our book fair was a smashing success. Our jog-a-thon raised $14,000. Our teachers and students put on a fantastic Winter Recital. If you have missed any posts from recent past, here are links for a few highlights:
- Our middle school students go to Outdoor School
- Students run 382 miles at the 2nd annual jog-a-thon!
- Annual Fiesta Night and Auction planning is well underway
- School Board welcomes Caitlin Jeffrey
- 5th Graders take on Biz Town
We will also begin our Open Enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year in January. Stay tuned for more details, we will have an announcement in the coming weeks. Just like last year, applications can be completed online. There will be a lottery for those grades where demand (applications) exceeds availability.
There is much in the works for winter and spring, including some new after school enrichment classes, school-wide efforts to take care of our staff, the annual science fair, and more. Top on our list is the Annual Fiesta Night and Auction! If you have attended these in the past, you have seen how amazing this event is. If you are new to Arco Iris and the auction, this is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year. Our team of volunteers really know how to throw a party – dinner, silent auction, live auction, special appeal, and live entertainment. Some classrooms have already begun their classroom art projects!
Individuals and companies interested in becoming sponsors for the 2014 Fiesta Night Auction should email firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with Suzanne Cashman Rain @ 503.312.5865. Sponsors at various levels may receive ad space in the event brochure, acknowledgement in event & school forums, event tickets, commemorative items, and more. For more details on sponsorships, see our Sponsorship guide: Arco Iris Fiesta Night Sponsorship Levels 2014.
Have a safe and fun winter break! See you all back at school on January 6th, 2014!
