Vision and hearing screening time: The Lions Club will be here on Wednesday, December 4th to perform hearing and vision screenings for all students in 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. We need 8 volunteers to come in and assist them for hopefully no more than a couple hours starting at 10:15. Please sign up HERE if you can help.

Holiday Drop & Shop! Sharpen your pencils, start making your shopping list, and get ready for some child-free holiday shopping! On Friday, December 6th the Arco Iris PTO will be sponsoring a Holiday Drop & Shop event at school. There’s no need to come pick up your child after school that day as the event starts right at 3:30 and ends at 8:30, but you can swing by to drop off younger siblings at 3:30 as we are taking all children of walking age and above – diapers ok! Your child’s time with us will include an after school snack, a holiday-themed craft project, games, pizza dinner, and will conclude with popcorn while we watch the movie “The Polar Express.” We plan to finish the movie and end the event by 8:00, but you can return any time after 7:00 to have your purchases beautifully wrapped by Arco Iris Elves, out of sight of the kids, before heading home. A big thank you goes out to Washington Square Mall for sending each shopper off with a coupon for this event. They have also generously donated a gift certificate that will be awarded to a participating family through a random drawing a few days before the event. We will host the event in the cafeteria and wrap presents in the lobby where we will be set up starting at 7:00. Not in the mood to shop? Leave your kids with us and enjoy a peaceful dinner out before the holiday rush gets too crazy and still bring any gifts you already have and take advantage of the gift wrapping service. Cost per child is $20, and presents will be wrapped for a suggested donation of $3 each. Babysitting will be provided by background-checked Arco Iris parent volunteers. PTO Meeting – The evening PTO meeting will need to be moved to Tuesday, December 3rd at 6 p.m. Also the auction committee is looking for a communications lead, volunteers to work on class projects and a party coordinator lead. Please contact Co-Chair Sarah Coakley if you are interested. And look for additional information in the December Newsletter! This is a fantastic event, and vital to our school’s continued operations.

Consejo de padres – A special meeting will be held December 11 at 6:30 to discuss mainstreaming our focus and the potential of being absorbed by the PTO. September minuets have been approved and will be posted in the Consejo de Padres portion of the Arco Iris website soon.
