Open enrollment begins next Tuesday! If you have a NEW student to enroll with us, please check our Enrollment page. Beginning on Tuesday, the new online registration will be open. If you have a sibling to a currently enrolled student, please follow our online registration process. Thank you!
Soon, we will also be asking for commitment forms for our returning students. This form will hold your space for next school year. You will receive a form in the next couple of weeks. Returning students do not need to re-enroll online.
Open school board position – The board of directors is looking to fill a vacancy on our team. If you have some experience (professional or volunteer) with fundraising and are interested in joining our dynamic team, please see our recent blog post.
Time to talk Tech – We’re up to a point where we could use some assistance from you if you have experience or are interested in learning more about technology for supporting the school. Two immediate projects right now include setting up a school web site on Google Sites and researching options and best practices for using tablets in the classroom.
If you have experience with either of these options, or are interested in being directly involved in a “tech team” to discuss and work with the school staff to plan how we can best move forward with technology, contact Scott Kissinger (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have administrative / help desk experience and are able to volunteer some time to help smooth out the edges of our current system during the day, please contact Scott.

Community Family/Music Opportunity – Looking for a family-friendly, local bilingual event? A number of our families are planning on attending a family concert at the Hillsboro Main Library on Tuesday January 29th, 6:30 – 7:30 pm for José-Luis Orozco Bilingual Family Concert.
From the Hillsboro Library calendar of events: “Please join Jose-Luis Orozco, bilingual educator, children’s author and recording artist at the Hillsboro Library for a bilingual family concert, where your children will sing, dance, clap and laugh, all while learning basic language and literacy skills in an interactive musical experience!”

Election for 3rd grade representative – Consejo de padres is looking for a 3rd grade parent interested in joining the group through the 2013-2014 school year. It is a great way to be involved with the school. Please email Dina Musgrave at email@example.com if you are interested. The election will be held the last week of January and the new representative will be join the group during the February meeting on 2/12/13 at 6:00 PM.
Learning Connections – Consejo de padres is excited to announce a new opportunity for families to share student learning with the community. We would like to invite you to tell your child’s story. Have there been any moments where your child learned something new from school and applied it to his/her life at home? Have you seen a sense of enthusiasm for something s/he might have been studying? Has your child suddenly clicked with something that was very difficult? What did that mean to you as a parent or caregiver? Please share with us those photos, stories or drawings. The stories and pictures will be collected and displayed at school to add another dimension to making learning visible in our school community. If you have a photo or story please email firstname.lastname@example.org or you can submit your pictures, drawings or stories in the Consejo de padres mail box, located in the staff room.
