Consejo de padres News

Consejo de padres met this week, please see the summary of our meeting posted here. Here’s a quick recap: PE curriculum is getting closer to being finished. Look for notices in the coming weeks as we start to gather equipment for the lessons as helping hands may be needed! Consejo de padres continues to explore ideas for reaching out to parents, fostering communication, and promoting a positive atmosphere at Arco Iris School. Please let your grade level representative know if you have any thoughts (email addresses are posted here). Don’t forget to sign the letter supporting our move to Beaverton Christian Church, signatures are needed by next Tuesday November 20th.  See one of our members in the Community Room at pick-up time to sign the letter or find it in the blue binder outside the office.

PTO News

Have you signed up to bring something to our potluck breakfast next Tuesday?  Please go here and let us know what you can bring! Contributions can be dropped off at school Monday afternoon. (If we do not have enough participation we may have to cancel) These breakfasts have been so much fun in previous years! Email us at

We need your help! Jr First Lego League Coaches are needed. We are looking for volunteers (5-6 people) to coach Jr First Lego League clubs after school on Fridays from 2:30-3:15. The Jr FLL is a Lego building program where groups of 4-6 students, ages 6-9 years old, work on a predetermined build challenge. These coaches will help organize students, facilitate the build process and work with students on their presentations.  Coaches need to commit to as few as 4, possibly up to 6, after-school meetings (45-60 minutes in length) and attendance at the Expo in March at OMSI (Date TBD).  This is a great event for our students.  If you love robotics, building, Legos, or just having fun with kids, this is a great opportunity for you.  Teams can be co-led if needed.   This is a completely parent run after-school activity and without enough coaches, we cannot run the club.  If you are interested in coaching please contact Niki Taylo at

Jog-A-Thon – The results from our inaugural Jog-a-thon are in and we are thrilled! Please visit our Jog-a-thon page to see the all the final results and a few pictures. The level of participation was truly astounding; an incredible 77% of our families turned in pledge money, which resulted in us EXCEEDING our goal of $15,000. And a last reminder to people who work at a company with a matching program, submit your donation and volunteer hours for a match and earn even more money for Arco Iris!

SCRIP – Thank you to all who ordered this month. Don’t forget to pick up your scrip orders Monday and Tuesday after school. Can’t make it? Please contact Wendy Armour or Sunshine King at

Monday is Jaguar Apparel Dress day FOR THIRD GRADERS ONLY. The 3rd grade class earned a Jaguar dress day on Monday, November 19th, for running the most laps in the Jog-a-Thon with an average of 18.9 laps/student (that’s over 2 miles!).

Rainbow of Thanks – Did you see the rainbow of hands in the hallway? We are amazed at all we have to be proud of and grateful for as a school community and our students feel the same way.  Thank you Consejo de padres for creating this display.
