Friday Updates – September 28 2012

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have enjoyed this first full week of fall. Our committees have been working hard this month, and that will continue in October. Check out below for the latest.

Consejo de Padres News

Consejo de padres held it’s September meeting this week. Please see the detailed summary of the meeting posted here (CP Mtg Summary Sept_25).  Briefly, updates from PTO, the Board, and the principal were shared, including the School Improvement Plan and the Annual Report to the Beaverton School District (both posted here) and PTO fundraising (explained here). Improvements to PE were discussed, including new equipment and a PE curriculum. Discussions of parent concerns included the enrichment fee and time allotted for lunch and PE.

We are also happy to announce the new representatives for 1st grade Valery Flanegin Briezen and Michelle Black. An email address of clasede2020@arcoirisschool.org will be active soon! 

Your grade level representatives welcome dialogue from parents using the Consejo de padres emails posted on the blog and in the family handbook or in person.

PTO News

PTO Meeting, Tuesday October 2nd at 6:30.  This is the official first meeting of all the committees.  If you want to find out all we have planned and what each committee is up to, make sure to join us.

Restaurant Night October 10th at The Old Spaghetti Factory (flyer needed) (OldSpaghettiFlyer2012).  This is a great opportunity for the kids (and parents) to meet up away from school as well as being a fundraising event. Invite your friends and family!

A fundraising letter went out in the kids’ backpacks on Wednesday/Thursday (bright green paper so you can’t miss it!). Click here for the e-copy Fundraising Intro2012. This letter defines our fundraising goals for this year and various ways we can all help meet that goal and why it is necessary.  We would like to correct a mistake on the hardcopy letter:  Arco Iris is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, not a 529(c)3 organization as it stated in the letter.

Scholastic book fair is once again going to be during conferences, October 25 & 26.  Please contact Alison Money at alisonmoney@comcast.net if you are able to help. You can schedule a shift around your child’s conference.

Jaguars Read logs are due on Monday! Please turn them in to the folder on the wall outside Maestra Mercy’s classroom.
