School Board Welcome’s Arturo Lomeli

Arco Iris School is pleased to welcome Arturo Lomeli as the newest member of the school board. Arturo will fill the vacant educator position from Sloan Presidio’s relocation to the Fairfax County (VA) school district.

Arturo is an experienced, bilingual educator and administrator. Since 2000, he has worked in the field of education. He has served migrant youth and developed leadership programs for teens from under-represented communities in California’s Central Valley. In 2004, Arturo and his wife moved to Oregon to pursue graduate degrees. In 2008, he obtained his administrative license while serving as a 6th grade teacher at Witch Hazel Elementary and as a Dean of Students at JB Thomas Middle School. After a brief stint in California, where he served as an Assistant Principal at Patterson High School, Arturo returned to the Hillsboro School District where he is currently serving as the Principal at South Meadows Middle School. South Meadows is not only an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP), it also has a Dual Language Program.

The school board is happy to have Arturo join our team, and we believe that his experience in bilingual programs and the MYP as well as being a bilingual administrator make him a fantastic addition to our school community.

Arturo will begin his work with Arco Iris in the immediate term, with his official first board meeting being in September. Welcome to our team Arturo!
