Please join us for a screening of the powerful documentary film Speaking in Tongues at Arco Iris school on Thursday, August 9th, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.
From the filmmaker: Four kids become bilingual in an experience that transforms both themselves and their country. In a time where 31 states have passed English Only initiatives, one urban school district is exploring the provocative notion that speaking a foreign language can be a national asset. We follow four diverse students and their families as they encounter the challenges and delights of becoming fluent in two languages. As we witness their journey, we see how speaking more than one language changes them, their families, their communities, and maybe even the world.
Check out their WEBSITE for more information on the film and to watch the trailer.
There will be some time for socializing before and after the movie.
While this is a film about children, it is in documentary format and may not be for children. If young children are to attend, please ensure they have something to keep them busy.
