Community Update – tomorrow at 4:30

There is a lot going on at any school and ours is no exception. We have been holding monthly Community Update sessions as a means for parents and our management team to meet, listen, learn, ask questions, and provide feedback. We think that these sessions are an important addition to the communications between our families and our staff.

This week we will present and discuss the curriculum, particularly how it pertains to a blended classroom. If you attended our Community Update in the fall, you’ll be familiar with the this Wednesday’s meeting. Mercedes will present how our program was developed, provide an overview of ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) Proficiency Descriptions (go HERE for more info), and discuss our academic programs and what a 2-year blended program looks like. You will see examples of our 2-year program as well as how that translates into the 2011-2012 academic year, by trimester.

The Community Update is from 4:30 – 5:15. We are leaving time for questions and answers and interaction at the end. We hope to see you there!

We will hold a Math Night and another Community Update on English Language Arts in the coming weeks. If you have additional topics you would like covered please send your suggestions to Maureen, Mercedes, or Deonne.

We have completed step 2 in the enrollment process for my daughter with no other kids attending Arco Iris. I would like more information on your curriculum beyond your website and plan on attending the info night and open house. I’m curious if I might get a more specific idea of what is in store if I drop by for the Community Update. Is this meeting open to prospective families?

Hi Eric – you are welcome to join us tonight. The details of curriculum, including materials like books, workbooks, readers and student work samples will be out in the classrooms at the open house. Today’s discussion will cover logistics, coordination, and schedule of a 2-year blended classroom. If you come, please introduce yourself and I’m sure you will get a warm welcome from our staff and families.
