Jaguars Read – October results!

October results are in, and we have some amazing readers! Here’s a summary of October’s Jaguars Read:

  • Total reading time: 610 HOURS
  • Total participants: 74 students, 57%
  • Class with the most reading time: Maestra Mercy, 163.5 HOURS!
  • Longest October read: 42 HOURS!

A big thank you to Sarah Coakley and Niki Taylo for organizing such a fun and inspiring program! Keep logging those minutes! We suspect there are more kids reading at home than who turned in sheets, so don’t forget to submit those reading logs the end of November. 

Looking for some inspiration for your readers, try looking for:

  • Newbery Medal Winners (awarded to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children)
  • Caldecott Medal Winners (awarded to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children)
  • Pura Belpre Winners (awarded to the Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience)
